ModernfoldStyles Showroom and Acoustic Design Lab

South Hackensack, NJ, January 18, 2018 – ModernfoldStyles, Inc., a recognized leader in flexible and innovative Space Management Solutions, is undergoing a complete renovation of its corporate headquarters in South Hackensack, New Jersey. Far more than a simple office or warehouse space, the Company is transforming their headquarters to give architects, interior designers, general contractors, and clients a “live” demonstration of how their operable partitions and glass wall products can transform an office space.

Having celebrated its 60th year in 2017, President Bob Styles, realized the company was outgrowing its current headquarters. Styles envisioned something more dynamic than a simple expansion; he wanted a hybrid office and showroom where the company’s architectural wall systems could be seen, touched, and experienced.

“Our industry deals with 3-dimensional spaces. Yet clients learn about the choices available to them through two-dimensional photographs.” The tactile, sensory experience these spaces are designed to convey simply can’t come across on paper. It was from this idea Styles decided that an interactive showroom was needed providing visitors with a spatial experience. The project is a collaboration with SBLM Architects, general contractor Tommac Construction, and acoustical consultant Longman Lindsey.

DESIGN CONCEPT
Serving both as a showroom and an employee workspace, the renovation occupies 12,000 sq. ft. of the original 30,000 sq. ft. building. The overall concept was meticulously designed to strategically incorporate corporate brand elements, utilize the grand scale of the existing distribution space, and showcase ModernfoldStyles’ architectural walls in a sleek work environment. “Great care went into establishing rules and methodologies for the placement of the product to create a cohesive aesthetic,” explained David Jaffoni, an Associate at the firm. “We created a contrast between the perimeter offices, offering an industrial chic look versus the all-glass, ultra-modern interior offices at the core,” Jaffoni continued. “There were many products to display. It was critical we maintain clean lines and an uncluttered design,” added George Fanous, AIA, SBLM Principal-in-Charge of the project.

The centerpiece of the renovation is the Acoustic Design Lab. The lab will be fitted with fully functional Modernfold Encore and Skyfold Classic operable partitions, and enclosed by an Acousti-Clear glass wall. Visitors will be able to experience the superb sound control qualities of these leading acoustical horizontal and vertical partitions.

Other glass walls also on display include PK-30, moodwall P2, Klein telescoping doors, Dorma glass systems, and Modernus glass and wood systems. A massive 30-ft. wide, 12-ft. high electric ComfortDrive glass panel system with 2 wood panels flanked on each end with pass doors will enclose the large conference room with just a push of a button. A stunning Renlita S-3000 two-leafed overhead foldaway door will bring in lots of natural light into the Employee Lounge which leads to an outside patio when open. Also on display is a “touch and feel” Gallery Wall that will showcase several hardware components, various door handles and locksets (courtesy of PBA and Rockwood), frame and finish options, and sample swatches.

“A lot of thought went into the design of the showroom,” Styles concluded, “because we want to ensure that visitors know it’s time well spent. We’re certain that they will find products that will suit their space management needs here.”

ModernfoldStyles is set to open its Showroom and Acoustic Design Lab in late Summer 2018.

A special Grand Opening event for employees, heads of product manufacturers, members of the press, state and local officials, and design community will be announced.
