Enhancing Community Engagement: YMCA Refurbishes Modernfold Acousti-Seal Premier Panels

For over 170 years, the YMCA has provided crucial services in strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Understanding that a well-designed space can promote wellness and unity, the YMCA Rocky Run branch chose to refurbish its Modernfold Acousti-Seal Premier single panel operable partitions.

Located at 1299 West Baltimore Pike, Media, PA, the YMCA first installed Modernfold Acousti-Seal in 2011, and they employed ModernfoldStyles’ service team various times throughout the years.

Our service technicians did an incredible job recovering the entire original Acousti-Seal system, updating each one with new vinyl and hand pulls for a clean and cohesive look.

Leveraging the existing #860 track system, which had retained its great quality, the team replaced panels three to five with entirely new products equipped with window panes. Each was placed 3’ from the finished floor with an aluminum frame.

The Acousti-Seal partitions were refurbished with vinyl top fixed seals and automatic 2” drop bottom seals to reinforce its 50 STC, ensuring ideal sound management in between rooms. Further minimizing noise disruptions, the panel was installed with a 3” thickness and MDF boards were applied as the panel skins.

Our exceptional service team installed the Acousti-Seal Premier single panels at a height of 8’11” with a hanging weight of 8 lbs, enabling ease of operation.

The panels and hinges were finished with Lennon Grass-Red Oat 521, staying consistent with the previous finish. The expandable panel nose and jamb was wrapped with the same finish as the panels and the trim color was finished in smoke gray to further maintain a harmonious aesthetic.
