Designed to Adapt: A New Chapter for Moorestown Library

The Moorestown Library serves as more than just a place for books, it is a hub for community activity. From meetings and programs to events of all kinds, its multi-purpose space is constantly in use. At the center of that flexibility was an operable partition that allowed the room to adapt as needed.

After more than a decade of consistent use, that system reached the point where replacement became necessary, due to damage sustained while in use.

With a new solution needed, the library faced an important decision. Enter ModernfoldStyles.

As the leading operable wall distributor in the tri-state area for almost 70 years, ModernfoldStyles supports installations through every stage of their lifecycle, with a dedicated service department focused on long-term performance and replacing systems that have reached the end of their lifespan.

With maintenance staff handling the minor construction requirements for the project, ModernfoldStyles was brought in to install a Modernfold Acousti-Seal Premier paired panel partition.

Designed for daily use, this manual system operates along a #17 HD bracket-mounted track, allowing personnel to quickly and easily divide the large gathering space into two smaller, equally functional areas. Panels glide on steel, four-wheel ball-bearing trolleys, delivering consistent, reliable operation.

In a layout that changes often, ease of use is essential. The wall can be deployed or retracted at a moment’s notice, giving the team the flexibility to respond to the needs of each event.

When not in use, the system folds into a recessed alcove, remaining out of sight while still easily accessible when needed.

Sound separation was another critical requirement. Outfitted with fixed top seals and Sureset manual 2” bottom seals, the installation achieves a 50 STC rating. Using the crank handle and hand pull, employees deploy the wall and engage the seals, ensuring a tight, secure closure. Once in place, it creates two fully separated, private rooms, allowing activities to take place simultaneously without disruption.

To maintain a cohesive look, the solution was designed to blend into its surroundings. Gypsum panel skins were finished in Modernfold Standard Len-Tex Cirrus, while natural choice hinges and trim complement the finish, keeping hardware out of sight when the wall is extended.

The result is a solution that works as hard as the space itself, supporting the Moorestown Library’s ongoing role as a flexible, reliable community resource.
