CASE STUDY
A Dynamic Approach to Spatial Performance at Rokos Capital Management
In a city where space is currency and privacy is power, flexibility is not a luxury. It is infrastructure. At Rokos Capital Management in New York City, versatility was not an afterthought. It was a design requirement.
To meet this demand, the project team paired two distinct operable systems, each engineered to address a different spatial challenge. ModernfoldStyles joined forces alongside Architects from Perkins & Will and General Contractor J.T. Magen & Company, Inc. Together, they elevated the practicality of this sky-high workplace, delivering the agile, performance-driven office the client required.

The finished environment reflects a deliberate balance of transparency, acoustics, and control. This is made possible through the installation of a Modernfold Acousti-Clear Motorized Paired Stack System with MorphGlas and two Skyfold Zenith Premium 55 partitions.

This layered solution did more than divide rooms. It redefined how the organization operates within its New York City footprint.
Layer One: Visual Continuity with Control
With multi-functionality driving the plan, the layout demanded a system capable of adapting to evolving demands throughout the day.

The selected configuration needed to maintain openness and natural light while providing the adaptability to transform the environment when privacy, sound separation, or focused collaboration became priorities.
To achieve unobstructed views without compromising efficiency, the team selected Modernfold Acousti-Clear, a refined glass operable wall engineered for offices where both light and noise reduction are essential.

Using the #G-330 Right Angle Track, this manual divider moves smoothly on stainless steel trolleys with nylon rollers for reliable operation.

When opened, the wall splits in the middle, with each half moving to the opposite side. As it extends, the two halves glide toward the variable panel of black back-painted glass, meeting precisely at its center and secured firmly with locking foot bolts.

The COMFORTRONIC top and bottom seals and pivot panel closure method enforces the 45 STC rating, providing the necessary seclusion for this meeting space.

Once the configuration is fully set up and sealed, separation is further enhanced with MorphGlas by Modernfold. At the touch of a button on wall-mounted control panels located on each side of the room, the low-voltage polymer-dispersed technology is activated.

An electric signal is sent once the panels are fully deployed and make contact with the MorphGlas track contacts adhered to the underside of the track, activating the MorphGlas and allowing it to shift from clear to opaque instantaneously. This increases visual separation and gives the space greater control whenever discretion is needed. Each half of the system operates independently, enabling one side to turn on or off without affecting the other.

Finished in RAL Classic 9004 Black Satin with coordinating black trim seal, the powder coat cleanly frames the panels and complements the low iron MorphGlas glass for a refined, cohesive look.

The 44½-foot-wide Modernfold is divided into two sections by the intersecting Skyfold Zenith Premium 55 divider.

Layer Two: Instant Privacy, Zero Compromise
Further enhancing the use of this multi-purpose suite, two Skyfold Zenith Premium 55 vertically opening partitions are installed, providing instant noise management. When both Skyfold Panels are deployed, two rooms are created.

With motorized operation, they descend silently and precisely, creating private, secure spaces on demand, without disrupting the flow of the open office. When not in use, they tuck neatly into the ceiling, leaving clear sightlines and open floor area.

Each system was designed to fit its specific width, ensuring proper performance within the conference room.
The larger of the two spans 10 feet wide. Its five-panel configuration sits perpendicular to the Modernfold partition.

The second Skyfold opening is six feet wide, connecting with the rear wall, effectively dividing the floorplan into distinct layouts.

Notably, the smaller system sits against a custom panel break, created specifically for this client. Typical Skyfold installations require a flush vertical surface on both ends.

While the partitions differ in size, both are finished with customer-supplied Carnegie Sahara Matte, applied horizontally to standard Skyfold panels with a semi-rigid fiberglass board backer and black perimeter seals.

The touchscreen panels mounted on each side of the room operate the vertical walls along with their flexible acoustic floor and end seals, contributing to the 55 STC rating and maximizing the privacy possible.

Layer Three: A Complete Strategy for Agile Environments
Together, the Modernfold Acousti-Clear and Skyfold Zenith systems create a dynamic spatial framework. The area can function as a single expansive conference room or transform into two acoustically secure zones within minutes.
This layered approach turns a single layout into multiple functional settings without compromising aesthetics or daylight. Flexibility, efficiency, and vision come together to reflect the demands of a modern, high-performance workplace.
