A Legacy Reimagined:
Transforming Xaverian’s Cafeteria for Today and Tomorrow

For over 68 years, Xaverian High School has empowered students to grow in faith, academics, leadership abilities, musical talents, athletic skills, and so much more. Founded the same year as ModernfoldStyles, 1957, Xaverian High School carries a storied legacy of growth and community. Today, the college preparatory school continues to prepare generations of students to thrive in the adult world.

In keeping with its commitment to progress, Xaverian set out to reimagine its cafeteria, a central hub of student life, to meet the evolving needs of its community. Their goal was to create a more flexible, functional room that can adapt to different uses throughout the school day.

ModernfoldStyles collaborated with Perkins Eastman Architects, PC, and TM Construction Group to install two Modernfold Acousti-Seal Premier Single Panel Partitions. Each wall measures 9’-8.5” W by 8’-4” H and features a carefully selected finish that blends into the surrounding environment, complementing the overall design with minimal visual interruption. Two bi-fold hinged panel closures were used to create a four-panel folding system between the cafeteria and servery, offering flexible spatial separation.

Virtually undetectable, the servery side of the partition features MDF Board panel skins, finished in Formica Plastic Laminate 934-58 Pearl Matte to match the surrounding room.

On the cafeteria side, the MDF board panel skins are finished in Wilsonart Plastic Laminate 10776-60 Kensington Maple Matte, allowing the wall to recede into the background and reinforce visual continuity throughout the space.

This attention to detail extends to matching trim, hinges, and hinged jambs in the color Natural Choice. This helps keep the walls simple and clean, making them a perfect addition to the cafeteria and servery.

Behind the scenes, durable steel, 4-wheel ballbearing trolleys ensure smooth, user-friendly operation along the #17 standard bracket track system, allowing for effortless movement and reliable performance.

The walls feature horizontal top seals, adjustable fixed bottom seals, and vinyl bulb seals, all contributing to the system’s impressive 50 STC rating, delivering effective sound control and enhanced privacy when the wall systems are in use.

Once positioned, the wall systems lock securely into place with the simple engagement of a foot bolt, giving staff effortless control over how the space is used.
