Church of the Open Door Enhances Community Outreach with Acousti-Seal Partitions
Since its founding in 1868, the Church of the Open Door has aimed to connect its members, unite the community, and be welcoming to all. Located in Fort Washington, PA, just north of Philadelphia, the church has promoted its message through group teachings and public outreach.
Due to its expanding congregation and several ministries, the Church of the Open Door sought a way to optimize its community outreach and enhance the day-to-day experience of its current members. As a result, the church reached out to ModernfoldStyles to find a space and sound management solution that offered the flexibility of alternating between a large community area and a space with two classrooms and a lounge.
With its newfound versatility, the church reception area can now be utilized to host large community events while also accommodating the congregation’s children for their Sunday school classes.
To achieve this dynamic space, ModernfoldStyles partnered with Harth Builders, the architects and contractors on the project. Serving renovation needs in Pennsylvania for almost three decades, Harth Builders are committed to meeting the client’s needs and desires from the initial design phase to the final installation.
Since the primary intent of the project was to create a classroom, high visibility and sound control were a top priority for the client. Paired with a need for flexibility and customizability, ModernfoldStyles and the Church of the Open Door opted for Modernfold’s Acousti-Seal Premier single and paired partitions.
Two of the three walls installed were Acousti-Seal Premier single partitions with hinged panel closures, finished in Modernfold Standard Vinyl. In each panel, clear tempered glass cutouts were inserted, accounting for more than half of the total surface area of each panel to ensure maximum visibility.
The tempered glass panels not only provide maximum visibility but also maintain the desired sound rating by offering low sound transmission. As a result, the panels with an STC rating of 50, enable different activities to take place in the church simultaneously without interfering with one another. In addition, the L configuration of the single panels provides the client multiple layout options.
For the third wall, ModernfoldStyles utilized a Modernfold Acousti-Seal Premier paired partition with an expandable closure, allowing a second classroom to be separated from the overall space. Constructed in a similar way to the single partitions, the Premier paired system also offers optimal sound control and uses the #17 HD track to allow for smooth operation with a single user.
Both the Acousti-Seal single and paired partitions boast exceptional flexibility and customization options. With these partitions, you have a selection of several unique finishes without extending the thickness of the panels.
