Versatile by Design:
How ModernfoldStyles Enhanced the Amenity Center inside NYC Skyscraper on Madison Avenue
Tucked away on the second floor of a skyscraper along one of New York City’s most well-known streets, this 22-story rentable office building is home to numerous companies that rely on its facilities each day. A standout feature of the building is its amenity center.
Designed to provide users with a flexible and comfortable work environment, this space features a variety of seating arrangements, storage options, quiet rooms, and even a shower.
The centerpieces of this floor include a large multi-purpose room and the adjacent conference room.
ModernfoldStyles was brought in, alongside Laurence G. Jones Architects and RXR Construction & Development, to install three Modernfold Acousti-Clear Paired Panel partitions in this communal space.

These operable glass walls redefine how the rooms are used, offering the ability to divide or open each area as needed. The walls provide greater versatility, allowing the Amenity Center to be fully optimized, creating the ideal layout for private conversations or concurrent meetings, all while maintaining a sleek and integrated look.
Acousti-Clear systems are designed for single-user operation, making the systems easy to set up and take down.

The trio of walls glides along the #G-330 track system on stainless steel trolleys with vinyl surface rollers, allowing for quick, hassle-free configuration. Automatic top and bottom seals, along with the double glazed construction, give these walls a 45 STC rating, helping to maintain privacy between rooms. All three installations blend into the surrounding area, and the systems were finished in RAL Powder Coat 7022 Umbra Grey with matching black trim.

One standout design feature is the use of custom fluted glass on one side and factory-clear low-iron glass on the other, enhancing both aesthetics and privacy from either direction.

The first space transformed was the large multi-purpose room. In this area, two Acousti-Clear systems were installed on opposite sides of a central column, closing toward each other to form one continuous partition when needed, maximizing functionality. Each wall utilizes a different closure method best suited to its location in the room.

Both walls were custom-fit to suit the room’s exact dimensions, each standing 9′-5″ high.
The first wall spans 13′-1.13″ in width and features an expandable panel closure system designed to maintain its 45 STC rating. A removable crank handle secures the final panel in place, ensuring a tight seal for enhanced privacy.

The second system measures 15′-6.63″ in width and utilizes a pivot closure panel to seal the partition and act as an access door, upholding its STC rating.

The final piece in this three-part installation is in the meeting room: a 9′-5″ high, 11′-10.88″ wide partition. When in use, this wall transforms the large room into two smaller, more private meeting spaces.

Through this process, the amenity center has been transformed into an area with endless possibilities. Not only does it now offer a variety of options for individuals, but it also features two multi-functional meeting rooms that increase usability and flexibility.

We hope the employees who work throughout this building continue to benefit from this versatile Amenity Center for years to come. Our team is proud to have contributed to such a thoughtfully designed environment.
